Any ideas how to pinpoint the problem? I think this only happens because I use the Android app iA Writer. Dont trust the information displayed in the app on the computer. Everytime I rewrite the characters at those places, it gets reverted back to the jumble randomly and it usually at the same fixed place. The first thing to do is to check that Dropbox is OK. Sometimes, broken characters create even more broken characters: There are a lot of places, where it doesn't happen, then it happens with random combinations in random lines and it usually stays at the same line. This can create problems if your hard drive doesnt have enough available space to sync everything in your Dropbox folder. The truly strange part is, that I can't really predict any way this happens. There is this strange effect, that happens irregularily, where some of my characters get broken like this: While I am on my computer, I usually use Notepad++ to edit the file. (No UTF-8 BOM or something different, just UTF-BOM.) I usually edit it on my Android phone, where I have iA writer installed, which directly saves everything to my Dropbox. csv-data stored in my Dropbox, where I input my vocabulary for the Japanese language.
